The first step to manually adding a transaction is to find the asset you wish to buy/sell. 1. If you have already added the asset to your portfolio, you can select it from the sidebar (MacOS/iPad) or from the 'Investments' tab (all devices).2. If you have not already added this asset, select the ' + ' button in the top right corner of Simple Stocks and select 'Add Investment', this will open a search page.3. From the search page, select the country of the asset in the 'Search Exchanges' dropdown.4. In the search box, type in either the asset name, symbol, or ISIN.5. Click on the name of the asset you wish to add a transaction to, this will open the asset details page. If you cannot find the asset you are looking for, please follow the instructions here.
Add a Transaction
1. When on the asset details page, select the 'Add Transactions' button, this will open a transaction sheet.
2. When the sheet opens, the first question you will encounter is 'Transaction Type', 4 different types of transactions are supported:
Open: Use this to record buying shares
Close: Use this to record selling shares
Split: Use this to record stock splits
Dividend: Use this to record dividends
All types of transactions have their own set of fields:
Open:
(* mandatory)
Portfolio*: Use this to record which portfolio the transaction should be addedto
Date*: The date of the transaction. This date will be used when calculating the historical portfolio value.
Units*: The number of shares/units purchased.
Currency*: The currency used in the transaction. Note this currency will apply to the 'Amount' field and 'Fee' field, but not to the unit price.
Exchange Rate: In case the selected currency is different to the currency of the asset, an exchange rate will be required. This will be pre-populated but is editable.
Amount*: The amount that was invested. Either this field or 'Unit Price' is required, not both.
Unit Price*: The share price that the asset was purchased at. Either this field or 'Unit Price' is required, not both.
Deduct from: The cash account where the funds came from to pay for this transaction. This field is optional.
Fee: Use this to record any fees associated with this transaction. This field is optional.
Close:

Split*: The split ratio. Please note this is recorded as x for 1 (ie. number of shares owned * split ratio = adjusted shares).
Dividend:

Portfolio*: Use this to record which portfolio the transaction should be added to
Date*: The date of the transaction. This date will be used when calculating the historical portfolio value.
Dividend per Share*: Number of dividends awarded per share. The exact dividend value will be calculated automatically based on share ownership on the day of the dividend.
Add earnings to: The cash account that received the dividend earnings. This field is optional.
3. Once all of the required fields are populated, click on the 'Save' button in the bottom right of the sheet.
Rearranging Transactions
In case multiple transactions fall on the same day, it may be important to update the sequence in which they were transacted to ensure accurate calculations. On the Asset details page, you can simply click and drag transactions to rearrange them, the calculations should update immediately.
